Lions Big 2nd Half Leads Bryan Over Cavaliers

Montreat, NC-  Six Lions score in double figures to lead Lions over the Cavaliers 80-68. With the win the Lions move to 14-10 Overall and 12-9 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. 

Caleb Grimes and Josh Baugher led the way with 17 points a piece. Grime also has 2 assists and 1 rebound. Baugher handed out 7 assist and grabbed 5 rebounds. Behind them was freshman Caden Johnson with 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. After Caden, was the older brother Ian Johnson with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Kheller Die had 10 points, going 7-8 from the free throw line, and nabbing 6 rebounds. Logan Allen rounded out the double figure crew with 10 points on 5-11 shooting. 

KEYS:
The Lion's continue to lead the conference in opponent 3 pt. Shooting percentage, holding Montreat to 31% from behind the arc Saturday Night. 

Bryan also forced  17 Cavalier turnovers, winning the turnover battle 17-10. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st Half:
  • After Montreat took and early 10-4 lead, it was a Caleb Grimes three that got the Lions back in it offensively.
  • The Cavaliers would go on a 7-0 run with 8:37 remaining in the half. 
  • A steal and fast break lay from Caden Johnson cut the Montreat lead to two (22-24) with 4:58 left.
  • After a Kheller Die three and then a Josh Baugher jumper, the Lions would cut the lead to 34-35 going into halftime. 

2nd Half:
  • A Josh Baugher three capped off a 7-0 Lions run to start the 2nd half to take a 41-35 lead with 18:28 left in the 2nd half.
  • A pull up jumper from Ian Johnson with 13:14 left, gave Bryan its first double digit lead 49-39.
  • An Ian Johson steal to Caden Johnson lay up would tie off another mini Lions 6-0 run (60-46) 
  • Back to back Logan Allen dunks with 1:09 remaining would put the final stamp on the game.

The Lions are back home Wednesday 2/14 at 7:30 PM to take on Reinhardt in Dayton, TN.
