Box Score The Bryan Volleyball Team traveled to Columbia College to take on the Koalas this Friday for the first time this season. Both teams needed a win to keep pace in the AAC. The Koalas claimed the second set but ultimately, the Lions won 3-1 and earned their fifth conference win.
The first set was back and forth with Bryan going down four points for most of the set. This would change however when Bryan went on 6-0 run from 15-19 to 21-19. The run was spearheaded by a plethora of Koala errors and complemented by kills from Reagan Malugin and Lillie Van Metre. Columbia would grab one more point on a service ace from Jada Gentry but Bryan took the set home 25-20.
The second set saw the home team battle back. In particular, Jada Gentry and Destiny Brown were especially effective during this set. These two's relentless attack paired with some attack errors from the Lady Lions, allowed Columbia to even the score up.
The third set was crucial for both teams to not fall behind. The Lady Lions came out the gate swinging in this one. They racked up a 5-2 before Columbia scored four straight points. The third set saw a vaillant performance from Ella Wheatcroft. Wheatcroft notched 5 kills in this set alone, propelling Bryan to 25-20 third set win.
The last set showed the mental edge gained by the visitors taking the 2-1 set advantage. Bryan started out on a 7-1 run with four straight kills taking place during that time (Elliot Brock, Reagan Malugin, Lillie Van Metre 2x). Columbia would never recover from the deficit as the Lady Lions took home a stress-free third set win 25-13.
