DAYTON, TN - The Bryan College Women's Basketball team returned home Thursday afternoon to face off against the Brenau University Tigers. Three Lions scored 20+ points to cruise past Breanau 99-50.
After an early back and forth, it was an 11-2 run by Nevaeh Majors, Kadee Ferrell, and Allissa Mulaski that gave the Lions a 20-10 first quarter lead. Majors who ended the game with 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals was most impactful with the on ball suffocating defense. Kadee Ferrell collects another double double on the night with 11 points, 12 rebounds, along with 4 assists.
The Lions continued their run in the 2nd as Samantha Russell came out scoring 5 points in the first minute. The Lions continued to pour in from beyond the arc as the Lions went 5-8 in the 2nd quarter alone, extending the lead to 51-26 headed into halftime.
Bryan continued to turn good defense into offense, after a steal by Torie Brooks led to a walk-in three pointer from Sam Russell which started the third on a 10-2 run. Kaitlynn Hennesee hits an And-1 layup at the end of the quarter to give Bryan a 74-38 lead.
The Lions offense kept rolling as they poured in 12 of 24 from three on the night and brought in their 12th conference win 99-50. Brooks, Russell, and Hennessee all collected their 20th points in the 4th. Torie Brooks finished the night as the leading scorer with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Russell finished with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Hennessee's strong stat line included 20 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.
With the win Bryan goes to 13-5 overall and 12-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), which keeps them in 2nd place overall. Brenau goes to 7-8 overall and 6-7 in the AAC.
Looking Forward: The Lady Lions stay home Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM to take on the CIU Rams at Summers Gymnasium.
