Barbourville, KY - The Bryan College baseball team traveled to Union to take on the Bulldogs. Because of a weather delay, game 1 of the series was played on Saturday as well. For game 1, Bryan started things off in the 2nd inning with a home run from Dante Morton to give the Lions an early 1 run lead. Union would respond in the bottom half of the inning. The Lions would not score again until the 8th inning with a 2-run home run from Danny Marquez. The Lions trailed going into the bottom half of the inning 5-3. Union scored in the bottom of the 8th to extend their lead to 7-3 and take game 1 of the series.Â
For game 2, Union was quick to get on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning taking a 4-0 lead going into the 2nd inning. Dante Morton homered in the 3rd inning to cut the lead to just 3 runs. Union scored again in the 4th inning going back up by 4. Daniel Dryden singled to third base, scoring Bryson Lofton in the top of the 6th inning to trail 2-5. The Lions were unable to make a comeback and fell 5-2 for game 2 of the series.Â
For game 3, Union scored in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings. Bryan was able to cut into the 9 run lead in the top of the 5th with a home run by Danny Marquez bringing in Owen Napieralski. Parker Cosby hit a solo home run to cut the lead down to 6. Bryan was unable to cut into the lead enough and Union took game 3 by a score of 11-3 and they took the series, sweeping the Lions.Â
