Dayton, TN -Â The Bryan College Softball team took on UT Southern for a doubleheader. For game 1 the Lions struck first in the bottom of the second inning scoring two runs to take an early lead. UT Southern would respond and go ahead 5-2. Bryan scored twice in the bottom of the third inning putting the score to 5-4 going into the fourth inning. Bryan would score the tying and go ahead runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to put themselves up 6-5. The Lady Lions take game 1.Â
For game two, UT Southern jumped on top with a commanding 4-0 lead over the Lady Lions in the first inning. The Lions were unable to respond and UT Southern adds onto their lead in the top of the second inning making it 5-0 early in the game. The Lady Lions are able to battle and get 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead. UT Southern extends their lead in the top half of the 4th inning with 4 runs but Bryan was able to earn 3 runs of their own to still stay in this game and keep it manageable. The Lady Lions are able to get a stop in the top of the fifth inning and come out in the bottom half of the inning to score 1 run and continue to cut the lead down, UT Southern leads at the end of the fifth inning 9-6. UT Southern gets 2 insurance runs to extend their lead again but in the bottom half of the sixth inning the Lady Lions score 3 runs to cut the lead to 11-9 going into the top of the seventh inning. UT Southern extending their lead again with 1 more run to put it at 12-9 going into the bottom half of the seventh inning. The Lady Lions were unable to rally in the bottom of the seventh.Â
